From the Director

Caltech is a place where much of modern theoretical science took shape. Our colleagues, past and present, fostered breakthroughs that raised the very foundations of the Standard Model and gravitation, and birthed the fields of machine learning and quantum computation.

The Leinweber Forum for Theoretical Physics is an endowed institute that builds on that legacy while looking forward, creating time and space to explore the many enduring puzzles of our universe, all for the simple sake of curiosity.

We are deeply grateful to the Leinweber Foundation for their vision and support. Their generosity will ensure that Caltech continues to be a place where scientists can take the long view, and every now and then even change it.
